Lampard Earns Blues Replay (Sky Sports)
Everton 1 Chelsea 1
Frank Lampard earned an FA Cup fourth round replay for Chelsea as the Premiership champions had to come from a goal down to draw 1-1 at Everton.
David Moyes' men took a deserved first half lead through James McFadden's header, but were well on the back foot in the second half.
Jose Mourinho's side improved markedly in the second 45 minutes and Lampard's 73rd minute leveller came as no surprise, but The Toffees fought tooth and nail to ensure that they at least had another crack at making the fifth round.
Everton started quicker and hassled and harried the Premiership champions in the opening 20 minutes, but neither side were creating much going forward.
The first chance of a scrappy opening came just after the 20-minute mark, when Simon Davies's cross deflected off Asier Del Horno and nearly wrong footed Carlo Cudicini, who got down well to save on a rare appearance for Chelsea.
Portuguese midfielder Maniche replied a minute later for Chelsea by firing a low shot just wide of Nigel Martyn's right hand post.
Duncan Ferguson was causing problems at the back for Chelsea, who were struggling to get in the game, and he won a free kick just on the edge of the box to give Everton a great chance.
Mikel Arteta's effort was charged down by the wall, but Leon Osman was unlucky when his shot on the turn was deflected for a corner.
Everton took the lead on 36 minutes when Nuno Valente's deep cross from the left found McFadden arriving unmarked inside the box and he was able to head home from close range.
Chelsea started the second half much better, but Everton's attacking impetus seem to leave them as McFadden departed the action with blood spilling from his nose after a clash with Cudicini.
Mourinho's men started to apply the pressure and should have levelled through Hernan Crespo as he scooped his shot high over the bar from just five yards out.
Crespo went closer a minute later when his curler flew just wide of the far post, while substitute Damien Duff forced a smart save from Martyn with his right-footed effort.
The equaliser was coming and it was no surprise when Lampard latched on to William Gallas' ball from the left and his instant control was followed by a low strike that beat Martyn and made it 1-1.
Everton's defending became more desperate as time ticked on, and Lampard fired a shot from the edge of the box just wide as the visitors threatened to win the tie late on.
Moyes' side hung on in the end to force a replay at Stamford Bridge when the two sides will try again a week on Wednesday.
