Bridge Surprised Sarri Still At Chelsea  (Sky Sports)

Maurizio SarriFormer Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge says he is surprised Maurizio Sarri is still in charge after an indifferent season.

The Italian has guided the Blues to the Europa League final and secured third place in the Premier League.

But they failed to mount any sort of title challenge, finishing 26 points behinds eventual winners Manchester City.

Some supporters have also expressed concern over his playing style, leading Bridge to question what the future holds for Sarri and Chelsea.

"Some say it's been successful but it's been very up and down," Bridge told Sky Sports News.

"They've been very inconsistent and consistency is what you want of a big team. That's what's going to win you the Premier League.

"I don't really know where he [Sarri] stands. I'm very surprised that he's still there.

"They are third [in the Premier League] and they are in a final [the Europa League] but as an ex-player and a Chelsea fan, they would like to see them higher up in the table.

"I know it's third but they want to see them competing [for the title]."
