Ray WilkinsA memorial service to honour the life of former Chelsea and England legend Ray Wilkins took place on Tuesday.

Wilkins, who was capped 84 times by his country and was captain on 10 occasions, died at the age of 61 last month after suffering a heart attack.

Associated with Chelsea for much of his career as a player and coach, Wilkins stepped up from the youth ranks to make his debut as a 17-year-old in 1973. Within two years he was captain, leading Chelsea to promotion to the First Division in 1976/77.

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte was among those in attendance at the service, along with former Blues players John Terry, Frank Lampard and Gianfranco Zola.

England manager Gareth Southgate and former Chelsea midfielder Glenn Hoddle also paid their respects.

After his retirement from football, Wilkins appeared as a regular and much-loved analyst on Sky Sports' football coverage, and former colleague Jamie Redknapp attended the service in London.
