Blues Denied By PSG (Sky Sports)

Chelsea
dropped their first points in the UEFA Champions League when
being held to a 0-0 draw by Paris Saint Germain.
The Blues operated like a side already assured of qualification, as they played within themselves throughout, but they never looked in danger of defeat against a PSG team who lacked the creative spark to find a way past Carlo Cudicini.
Joe Cole was at the hub of the majority of Chelsea's positive play and he combined with Mateja Kezman early on, but PSG defended in numbers and averted the danger.
Kezman had a gilt-edged chance to open the scoring on nine minutes, having been played in by Cole but, after making a mug of Mario Yepes, he dragged his shot disappointingly wide of goal.
Alexei Smertin looked like a player with a point to prove and he tested Lionel Letizi's handling, while at the other end Reinaldo fired weakly at Cudicini.
PSG came into the game as the first half wore on, with Lorik Cana and Sylvain Armand going close with chances on goal.
Reinaldo created a good chance for himself on 41 minutes, but he failed to test Cudicini as he fired his shot into the side-netting.
Arjen Robben was on the periphery of the action for most of the opening 45 minutes, but the fleet-footed Dutchman created a chance from nothing when forcing his way past his marker but he sliced his shot well wide of target.
Chelsea took control of the game in the second half, but PSG defended resiliently and made it difficult for The Blues to find a way to goal.
Frank Lampard drove his side on from the middle of the park and went close on 54 minutes, but his rising effort flew just too high.
Lampard almost found a way to goal on the hour when firing a free kick in from the left which evaded everybody, but Letizi was on hand to gather at the feet of onrushing Chelsea forwards.
The Stamford Bridge faithful were cheered on 65 minutes when Didier Drogba made a return to the fold following injury and he had the ball in the net shortly afterwards, but the effort was chalked off by a linesman's flag.
Drogba had a chance to clinch all the points when played in by a deft pass from Eidur Gudjohnsen, but he shot straight at Letizi and with it went Chelsea's hopes of extending their perfect run.
A fine saving tackle from Glen Johnson prevented Armand from getting a shot off on goal in the dying moments, which ensured Chelsea kept their unbeaten run in Europe going.
