Chelsea will allow Maurizio Sarri to handle any
internal disciplinary action against assistant coach Marco Ianni, Sky
Sports News understands.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho took exception to the way Ianni
celebrated Ross Barkley's 96th-minute equaliser in the 2-2 draw at Stamford
Bridge on Saturday, prompting a melee around the tunnel.
After the match, Mourinho revealed he had accepted an apology from Ianni,
while Sarri said he would deal with the matter.
Sky Sports News understands Chelsea regard the incident involving Ianni as
falling well below the standard expected of a member of staff, but will not
override whatever action Sarri deems appropriate.
Ianni, who is a second assistant coach at Chelsea involved in analysis,
spent two years as a technical assistant to Sarri at Napoli before moving to
west London.
Sky Sports News also understands the Football Association is waiting for
referee Mike Dean's report before deciding whether any further action is
warranted.
Dean will only file an "extraordinary incident report" if he feels there is
something the FA need to be aware of or was not dealt with at the time.
