Chelsea
"will do what they have to do" to keep Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge, says
the club’s chairman Bruce Buck.
Hazard is out of contact at the end of next season and earlier this month
reiterated that it has been a childhood dream of his to play for Real
Madrid.
Sky Sports News reported earlier this month that Chelsea intend to
do all they can to convince the Belgian to remain at the club.
And speaking at a football business event in Doha, club chairman Buck
indicated he shares the same desire as every Chelsea fan to see Hazard
extend his six-year stay in south-west London.
"Every Chelsea fan in London and around the world loves Eden Hazard," Buck
told beIN Sports.
"And he's not only a great footballer but I think he's a wonderful lad. We
want him to stay and we will do what we have to do to entice him to stay."
Hazard's compatriot Thibault Courtois had also been angling for a move to
Real, eventually completing a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu from Chelsea
in August.
But Buck refused to be drawn on the similarities in the situations of the
Belgium internationals.
"Let's see how it goes between now and the end of the season," he added.
