Sunderland
are on the brink of securing Jake Clarke-Salter on loan from Chelsea until
the end of the season, according to Sky sources.
It is understood the two clubs have agreed a deal in principle, with the
20-year-old defender expected to travel to Wearside on Sunday to finalise
the move.
Clarke-Salter was included in the Chelsea squad for Saturday's FA Cup tie at
Norwich.
If the deal is completed, it will be Chris Coleman's first signing since he
became Sunderland manager in November.
Clarke-Salter, who is an England U20 international, has only made one
Premier League appearance for the Blues and spent time on loan at Bristol
Rovers last season.
