Kenedy
will undergo a medical with Newcastle on Tuesday ahead of a loan move from
Chelsea for the rest of the season.
The Brazilian, who can play at both left-back and on the wing, arrived on
Tyneside on Monday night and is set to become the Magpies' first signing of
the January window.
Manager Rafael Benitez has been keen to strengthen his squad this month but
has been uncertain of his funds due to talks over a potential sale of the
club, which have ended for the time being.
Benitez has wanted Kenedy since the summer when the two clubs also held
talks over a prospective loan.
Sky Sports News understands Newcastle have also been considering Crystal
Palace's Pape Souare for the left-back position, while there have been
reports of interest in Bristol City's Joe Bryan.
But they are set to sign the 21-year-old Kenedy, who has struggled to break
into Chelsea's first-team.
He made 14 Premier League appearances in the 2015/16 season after joining
from Fluminense, but under Antonio Conte has featured just once in the
league over the past two campaigns.
Kenedy spent the first half of last season on loan at Watford but was
recalled in January 2017 after making just a single appearance.
