We
round up the latest Chelsea transfer rumours from around the British and
European press on Wednesday, August 23.
Chelsea are planning a shock double raid on Leicester City for England
international team-mates Jamie Vardy and Danny Drinkwater ahead of the
conclusion of the transfer window, according to the
Daily Mirror.
The Blues are said to be readying a £30m offer to prise the midfielder away
from the King Power, while Vardy - a target for Arsenal last year - would
provide competition in attack as the Diego Costa saga continues, though no
potential fee has been touted.
Antonio Conte's men are also pursuing other avenues, with a fourth bid for
Torino striker Andrea Belotti a possibility, according to the
Express.
Belotti has a €100m release clause in his contract with the Serie A club,
with Monaco prepared to offer €80m, and Chelsea €75m for the 23-year-old.
Elsewhere,
Sport Bild claim that officials are shortlisting
candidates to replace Premier League winning boss Conte.
Former Borussia Dortmund chief Thomas Tuchel and ex-Barcelona manager Luis
Enrique head up the list apparently drawn up by Roman Abramovich and
director Marina Granovskaia have two principal candidates in mind to replace
Conte should the Italian leave Stamford Bridge.
But club sources have confirmed to
The Independent that there is no
succession plan in place for the Italian with Tuchel not a name on their
radar.
