Diego
Costa's agent Jorge Mendes is working hard to end the drama surrounding the
Chelsea striker and broker his return to Atletico Madrid,
Sky Sports
News understands.
Negotiations are ongoing over the 28-year-old's exit from Stamford Bridge,
but despite reports in Spain, nothing has yet been agreed between the Blues
and Atletico - the club from which signed Costa in a £32million deal in
2014.
Spain international Costa has accused the club of treating him "like a
criminal" - a suggestion laughed off by boss Antonio Conte last week ahead
of their clash with Tottenham, live on Sky Sports Football.
Chelsea are understood to want £50m for the striker and Costa told ESPN
Brazil on Friday that Atletico were offering more than they sold him for
three years ago.
Other clubs are still interested but, so far, Costa only wants Atletico and
has stated so publicly since the summer.
Costa has not returned to Chelsea since they lifted the Premier League title
in May and remains in self-imposed exile in his native Brazil, despite his
club insisting he meets his contractual obligations to get fit and make
himself available for selection.
Costa was pictured last week training by himself wearing a pair of Chelsea
shorts, but he has said he does not intend to return to their Cobham
training base.
