Chelsea
forward Pedro is to return home early from the club's pre-season tour of
Asia.
The Spain international will undergo further assessment after suffering
concussion and facial injuries during Saturday's pre-season win over
Arsenal.
Pedro was hurt when he collided with Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina during
the first half of the match at the Bird's Nest Stadium and he was replaced
by Jeremie Broga.
Manager Antonio Conte was initially hopeful that Pedro could join his
team-mates on the next leg of their tour.
But Chelsea reported on Sunday morning: "Pedro stayed in hospital overnight
in Beijing for observation, having sustained a concussion and facial
injuries in last night's game against Arsenal.
"He will now return to London for further review."
The player posted a photo of himself on Instagram, lying on a hospital bed
but smiling and giving the thumbs up signal.
And he wrote: "What a shock! But fortunately everything is OK.
"Thank you all for your messages."
Chelsea will continue to prepare for the defence of their Premier League
title with a friendly against Bayern Munich on Tuesday at Singapore's
National Stadium.
