Mikel To Decide Future In January  (Sky Sports)

John Obi MikelJohn Obi Mikel will make a decision over his Chelsea career in January after failing to make an appearance in the Premier League under head coach Antonio Conte.

The two-time Premier League winner admitted that he is in unknown territory regarding his future, saying he "will wait and see what happens in January".

The Nigeria international added: "For the first time in my career, this is happening to me and I have to stand up and deal with it. It is what it is but I'm training hard every day and always wish the team the best and I am happy we are doing well.

"I've been at Chelsea a long time. Managers come and go. These things happen in football so we will have to make that decision when January comes."

The 29-year-old midfielder has been at Stamford Bridge since 2006, and featured in 23 Premier League games last campaign.

His inactivity has angered Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr, who says the lack of playing time is due to his participation in Brazil this summer.

"He is being punished for deciding to go to the Olympics for Nigeria," Rohr told ESPN. "He is training and doing well for us. I cannot punish him for deciding to make a sacrifice for Nigeria."

The Chelsea midfielder has played 249 times for Chelsea, scoring once in a 2-0 home win against Fulham in 2013.
