Arsenal
forward Alexis Sanchez is the ideal candidate to replace Eden Hazard if the
Belgian leaves Chelsea, according to
Premier League Daily guests
Tony Gale and Leon Osman.
Sanchez has 15 months left on his deal at the Emirates and is yet to sign
fresh terms to extend his stay beyond the summer of 2018 despite prolonged
negotiations.
Sky sources understand Real Madrid want to sign Hazard this summer, though
talks between the clubs have not taken place.
Should the Belgium international leave, Gale and Osman were in agreement
that Sanchez would be the perfect replacement.
"If the transfer market starts moving and Eden Hazard goes to Real Madrid
and then you've got to replace him, who's the perfect replacement? Well that
would be Alexis Sanchez," Gale said on Sky Sports News HQ.
"But would Arsenal sell him to Chelsea? I'm not so sure about that, selling
him to one of their closest rivals and a London rival at that.
"I couldn't really see it happening, but money talks and if his contract's
running out and they don't renew the contract he becomes worth less as the
contract goes on, and Chelsea offer the money that might come up, funnier
things have happened but the Arsenal fans would be livid."
Former Everton midfielder Osman went suggested he can see the transfer
happening.
"I could potentially see it happening, Chelsea look their going to be
winning the title," Osman added. "The old saying is keep on strengthening
even when you're strong and he would be a great addition to their squad.
"I could see it happening, but I think it would all come down to Alexis
Sanchez and if that's the move he wants to make because if there's other
options out there, I'm pretty Arsenal would try and force him to go
elsewhere rather than Chelsea."
