Brom boss Tony Pulis has been keeping an eye on three Chelsea players but
will not be signing defender Branislav Ivanovic.
Sky sources reported on Sunday that the Baggies were looking to Ivanovic's
move to Zenit St Petersburg, but speaking on Monday Pulis said: "He's a good
player but he's never been on our radar."
With the transfer window closing on Tuesday night, Pulis implied the arrival
of Jake Livermore, for a reported £10m, will remain the only spending they
do, despite also selling Saido Berahino to Stoke.
Pulis was at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to watch Chelsea's FA Cup tie
against Brentford but he revealed he was watching young players rather than
32-year-old Ivanovic.
"He's a good player but I was at Chelsea to look at players Brentford
mentioned to me," Pulis added. "I was also looking at Chelsea's young
players, [Nathaniel] Chalobah, [Ruben) Loftus-Cheek, and [Kurt] Zouma.
"We still want to bring players in but they'll probably be on loan. I can't
see us spending any more money."
West Brom are looking for a striker to replace Berahino and were interested
in Bournemouth's Callum Wilson, who has scored six Premier League goals this
season, but Pulis has been told the 24-year-old is not for sale in January.
Pulis, whose team play at Middlesbrough in the Premier League on Tuesday,
admitted he was extremely determined to conduct some business in the next 24
hours.
"There is such a small pool that we are fishing in," said Pulis.
"We're moving forward, but it will take time. We have a budget and we've got
to make sure the players are right. We're desperate to bring players in.
"We've moved up a level this season. We are competing against teams like
West Ham and Everton but players have gone there instead."
