Chelsea
can live with Diego Costa being unsettled as long as he performs on a
Saturday, according to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Costa will be considered for selection against Hull on Super Sunday after
rejoining first-team training on Monday following a meeting at the club's
Cobham base described by sources as amicable.
The Premier League's joint-top scorer missed out at Leicester at the weekend
- officially with a back injury but in the wake of a £30m-a-year offer from
China that caused tension with manager Antonio Conte.
Tianjin Quanjian have since given up on signing Costa, who came close to
rejoining Atletico Madrid in the summer after two seasons at Stamford
Bridge.
And Hasselbaink, once the Blues' record signing, told Sky Sports News HQ's
Premier League Daily programme: "I think only Costa can keep Costa happy, I
don't think Chelsea are going to keep him happy.
"He's playing the best football of his career, of course he's going to get
other clubs interested, it's just the nature of the game, and Chelsea will
have to deal with that.
"It's how he takes it further. He might want to leave, but if he keeps on
doing the business on Saturday there's no problem there.
"The team is the most important thing, and Chelsea need to do the right
thing for Chelsea. The boy is under contract and we all know Costa is a very
important player in the Chelsea set-up, especially in counter-attacking,
bullying and leading the front line."
Sunday's visitors were the opposition on October 1 when Conte first started
a Premier League game with three central defenders, a switch in system that
sparked a 13-match winning run in the league.
"The improvement from four at the back to three or five - whatever you want
to call it - has been immense, and you've seen the players growing into that
system and enjoying it.
"Most of the time they don't even control possession. They are very happy
not having the ball for a spell, but when they have it they make the
difference. I must say Conte until this moment has done really well."
