Dutch
midfielder Marco van Ginkel has extended his contract at Chelsea until 2019
and will join PSV Eindhoven on loan for the rest of the season.
The 24-year-old, who joined the Blues from Vitesse Arnhem on a five-year
deal in July 2013, spent the second half of last season on loan with PSV and
helped the club pip Ajax to the Eredivisie title with eight goals in 13
league games.
The Dutch champions had originally hoped to bring Van Ginkel back at the
start of this season on another loan deal but a knee injury forced him to
remain at Chelsea.
PSV acknowledged last week they would be open to signing Van Ginkel on a
permanent basis but Chelsea have moved to ensure his future lies at Stamford
Bridge.
Van Ginkel, who has won six caps for the Netherlands, has also previously
enjoyed loan spells with AC Milan and Stoke City. He has not appeared for
Chelsea's first team this season, instead playing for the U23s.
