Sky
Sports football expert Matt Le Tissier is not surprised Chelsea have
started the season sluggishly considering several of their top attacking
players are out of form.
Chelsea lost 2-1 to Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, just
three days after they could only manage a point against Newcastle at St
James' Park.
Jose Mourinho told his Chelsea squad earlier this week that no player is
untouchable, and Le Tissier believes he was making a point to some of his
attacking players that have failed to hit top form so far this season.
"I think he was probably referring to the fact that Eden Hazard was on the
bench - he's one player that has not started the season particularly well,"
Le Tissier told Sky Sports.
"But he's not alone at Chelsea. There's only a couple of players playing to
their full potential right now, and when that happens you are going to
struggle for results.
"They have had the injury to Thibaut Courtois, which has been a big blow.
Asmir Begovic has done OK - but it has been a struggle, mainly because none
of their offensive players have hit top form yet."
Le Tissier's former club Southampton are the next team to face Chelsea when
they travel to Stamford Bridge on
Saturday Night Football - and Le
Tissier says the Saints should be full of confidence heading to west London.
"They'll [Southampton] pose a decent threat, they have not been beaten away
from home in the Premier League this season.
"They have also drawn the last couple of years at Stamford Bridge, so we
should go there full of confidence."
