Matic admits confidence is low at Chelsea, but insists he has no problem
with boss Jose Mourinho after a troubled start to the season.
The Serbia midfielder was substituted just 28 minutes after coming off the
bench in the 3-1 defeat to Southampton earlier this month, with Mourinho
publicly critical of Matic's performance.
But the 27-year-old says the Chelsea boss can count on him in the weeks to
come as the Blues look to improve on their disappointing return of 11 points
from their opening nine Premier League games.
"I am professional and respect all decisions of the coach," he said. "I have
never had a problem with any coach because they all respect that I am very
professional. I do my best.
"So with Mourinho it is the same. He knows he can count on me always."
Mourinho's side gained a hard-fought point with a goalless draw at Dynamo
Kiev in the Champions League on Tuesday night and Matic is convinced the
Blues have too much quality to continue to struggle as they have.
"In Kiev I think I did what Mourinho asked from me. I think I did a good
job. Of course confidence is not high, but not only for me," he said.
"The team is not in a good position in the Premier League, but game by game
we will be better and better because we have quality."
