Terry Optimistic On New Deal  (Sky Sports)

Chelsea captain John Terry has told Sky Sports News HQ he is still hopeful of earning a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

Terry's current deal ends this summer and he claimed earlier this year that the club will not be offering him a new deal.

That means the defender could have less than 20 games remaining for Chelsea - and he is targetting at least one more trophy with the club.

"I am still very hopeful," Terry said. "I have been there 21 years and I will never give up until if finally happens. But who knows?

"I have still got a lot to give - whether that is here or somewhere else - that is for sure."

Guus Hiddink has lost just once since he took over from Jose Mourinho in December and Terry believes the Dutchman deserves a lot of credit for his second spell at the club.

"Guus has been phenomenal since he come in. Not only this time, but last time in 2009 as well," Terry added.

"We can only focus on that and what he's doing at the moment. But he's doing a fantastic job, as are the players at the moment."
