Cahill will captain England in their friendly match against Germany at the
Olympiastadion on Saturday.
Cahill, who was named as England's vice-captain following the disappointing
2014 World Cup campaign, will skipper Roy Hodgson's side in Berlin in the
absence of Wayne Rooney.
England captain Rooney will miss the friendlies with Germany and the
Netherlands as he continues his rehabilitation from a knee injury suffered
in February.
Cahill previously captained England in their 2-0 European Championships
qualifying victory over Estonia last October.
It will be the first time England have played Germany since their 1-0 home
defeat to Joachim Low's side in 2013, when Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker
scored the only goal of the game.
