Chelsea's
pre-season International Champions Cup clash with Real Madrid is to take
place at Michigan Stadium.
The stadium, known as the 'Big House,' is the largest stadium in all of the
United States with a capacity of 107,601.
It is the home of the Michigan Wolverines, the American football team of the
University of Michigan, and previously had a capacity of over 109,000.
It will not be the first time the venue has hosted a high profile pre-season
match-up. In 2014, Real Madrid also played there, losing 3-1 to Manchester
United.
Chelsea and That match, also an International Champions Cup encounter, drew
a capacity crowd of 109,318, which remains the biggest-ever attendance for a
football match in the United States.
It will be Chelsea's second of three games in this year's competition, all
of which are taking place in America.
The Blues, who will hope to have a new manager installed, will first take on
Premier League rivals Liverpool on July 27 at the Rose Bowl in Pasdena,
California.
They will then round-off the tournament with a clash against AC Milan at the
NFL's newest venue, the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which is
not due to open until the summer.
