Chelsea
have given defender Tomas Kalas a new three-year contract.
Kalas will spend this season on loan at Middlesbrough having spent three
months there in the spring, but he returns to Teesside with his long-term
future secure.
The centre-half has also had loan spells in the Netherlands and Germany
during five years at Chelsea which have brought just four senior
appearances.
One of those came at Anfield in 2014 when he impressed in a 2-0 win which
ultimately cost Liverpool the Premier League title.
Jose Mourinho said after that game: "For a kid like Kalas to make his debut
and play the way he did...I have to speak about the kid because it's a
special day for him."
