Former
Chelsea winger Florent Malouda is poised to join ex-Brazil international
Roberto Carlos at Indian Super League (ISL) side Delhi Dynamos, Sky sources
understand.
Ex-Real Madrid and Inter full-back Carlos, 42, was named player-manager of
the Delhi franchise earlier this week after several weeks of negotiations.
And former Lyon winger Malouda - a Champions League winner with Chelsea in
2012 - could be set to join Carlos in the Indian capital after holding
positive talks with club officials.
Malouda could be seen as an alternative to former Liverpool full-back John
Arne Riise, who has been at the centre of a tug-of-war between Delhi and
fellow ISL side Kerala Blasters.
If Malouda completes the move to Delhi he is likely to line up against
former Chelsea and France team-mate Nicolas Anelka who was handed the
managerial reigns at Mumbai City FC last week.
Anelka is also Mumbai's marquee player and turned out for the Maharasthra
side in last year's inaugural ISL, scoring two goals in seven appearances.
Mumbai have also snapped up striker Sunil Chhetri after outbidding several
ISL franchises for the India captain's services in the league's first-ever
player auction on Friday.
It has also been a busy week North East United who have signed former West
Brom and Fulham striker Diomansy Kamara. Kamara will play alongside
ex-Barcelona and Atletico Madrid winger Simao for the Guwahati-based
franchise.
The eight-team league kicks off on October 3, with last year's champions
Atletico Kolkata travelling to Tamil Nadu to play Chennaiyin FC, co-owned by
Indian cricketer MS Dhoni.
