Chelsea
have confirmed that Diego Costa suffered only bruising to his shin when he
was injured during Saturday's 3-3 draw with Everton at Stamford Bridge.
The striker limped off in the 80th minute of the Premier League game after
hurting himself in a challenge on Toffees left-back Leighton Baines.
There were some concerns Costa, who scored the Blues' opening goal as they
fought back from 2-0 down, had suffered a fracture and he was sent to
hospital for tests.
However, scans showed he had only suffered bruising and he was back at
Chelsea's training ground at Cobham on Sunday for treatment.
Interim manager Guus Hiddink is awaiting a further update on the 27-year-old
Spain international's fitness ahead of Sunday's trip to Arsenal.
Hiddink was asked after the Everton game if the potential absence of Costa
could lead to Chelsea making moves in the transfer market, but he would not
be drawn on that prospect.
"For the moment, we are doing nothing [in the transfer market]," the
Dutchman said. "We hope Diego comes out the hospital in good health and we
go on as we are doing."
