Hiddink believes Chelsea will have increased difficulties in the transfer
market this summer without Champions League football.
The Blues are all but mathematically certain to miss out on the top-four
this season, 17 points adrift in the 13th place with 13 games to go.
Their only hope is to win the Champions League and they face a tough last-16
tie with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday evening.
And interim head coach Hiddink, who will leave at the end of the season,
says they must come up with a clever sales pitch to attract top talent while
the rest of the Premier League improves.
"The club must also offer the ambition, even when you don't play in the
Champions League next year," Hiddink said.
"It's difficult but if a club with a big status can offer ambition for the
future, then you can still be attractive to players.
"The people who have to deal with the near future must look very well at
what they'll need to do to be competitive next year, how strong they must be
to break back into the top four.
"When you see the other teams in the Premier League with even greater
economic possibilities to make their squads strong, I'm sure they are doing
everything to be even more competitive in the league next year."
