Cascarino believes Jose Mourinho will be happy with the point gained at the
Etihad on Sunday, despite seeing his side pegged back by 10-man Manchester
City.
Andre Schurrle scored Chelsea's goal minutes after Pablo Zabaleta had been
dismissed for a second yellow following a crude challenge on Diego Costa,
But former Stamford Bridge favourite Frank Lampard came off the bench to
grab a late equaliser to keep City within five points of leaders Chelsea,
who are now odds-on to claim the Premier League crown next May.
Speaking to the Morning View on
Sky Sports News HQ, Cascarino, who
played 24 times for Chelsea between 1992 and 1994, said: "Jose Mourinho will
be well aware of Man City's qualities... and will probably be delighted to
come away with a point which keeps his main rivals at bay.
''Chelsea have played far better but off the back of a European week and
with Champions League in midweek, you look at that game and they really
struggled against Schalke.''
''It was a hard game for them and they’ve come up against their main rival
away from home.
''They’ve come away with a point but as the game wore on Chelsea got better
and the battle between Costa and Vincent Kompany was as good as you’ll see
all season.’’
