Drogba has asked for patience as he bids to rediscover the form that made
him a Chelsea legend.
Drogba played in his first Champions League match for Chelsea on Wednesday
night since scoring the deciding penalty against Bayern Munich in the final
of the competition in 2012.
However, the 36-year-old, who sat out Saturday’s win over Swansea with an
ankle injury, was unable to add his 157 goals for the club as Schalke
claimed a 1-1 draw.
"For a first game they were okay, kind of okay," said Drogba. "The good
thing is no pain in the ankle, so now I can start working and training and
improve the condition.
"I was feeling much better in the second half. I'm like a diesel, I need
time."
Drogba twice squandered chances to score, firstly when Willian crossed
inside the six-yard box and then when Eden Hazard played him in on goal.
"I had chances, especially the one in the second half. It was a clear chance
and I think it's unlucky," he said.
"If I score there there's no more game. The fact that you don't score, they
still believe in the equaliser and that's what happened afterwards."
