Third Success Appeals to Mourinho  (Sky Sports)

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says he would be thrilled to win the Champions League again with a third club.

Mourinho won the competition in 2004 with Porto and six years later when he was in charge of Inter Milan, and hopes to be the first manager to lift the trophy with three different clubs.

But the 51-year-old is already happy with his record in Europe’s premier tournament, and reckons the fact Sir Alex Ferguson only managed to win two Champions League titles is testament to how tough the challenge is.

Chelsea start their Group G campaign against Schalke at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, and they will also face Sporting Lisbon and Maribor in their section.

Mourinho said: "Do I want to try to win it again? Of course.

"What drives me is to try to win. I work for my club, for my players and for the club supporters. I don't work for myself.

"If I win it once more, to win with three clubs is unique. But even if I don't do it, how many top managers in the world have only one or even not a single one?

"The greatest in our country, he won it twice.

"If at the end of my career I've achieved that situation, then good, but it's far from being an obsession and it's not something that I think about a lot.

"I have the ambition to win it again, but in this moment I only think about don't play Europa League.

"We have a championship of six matches and three opponents and we have to do everything to qualify."

Schalke have made a poor start in the Bundesliga and are languishing near the foot of the table having taken just one point from their first three matches this season, with their latest result a 4-1 defeat at Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

However, Mourinho is taking no notice of Schalke's league form and Chelsea will be wary of their opponents despite beating them 3-0 home and away at the same stage of the competition last season.

"They drew against Bayern Munich, obviously they lost their last match 4-1 but I don't see that as a drama or having a consequence in the Champions League," Mourinho said.

"I don't see a relation between the fact they lost the last match. Probably it will make them stronger. Probably they can discuss the mistakes they made, they can try to have a different approach to be a better team and a difficult opponent."
