Terry Lauds Chelsea Teamwork  (Sky Sports)

John TerryChelsea captain John Terry has insisted that the defensive work of the club's attacking players has been key to their impressive start to the season.

The Premier League title favourites have started the new season imperiously, dropping just two points from their opening seven encounters.

With Diego Costa's impressive start to his Stamford Bridge career helping Jose Mourinho's men amass 21 league goals already, their resolute backline has conceded just seven – proving equally as vital.

And while Terry has won many of the plaudits for his own solid displays, he is adamant it is the whole team that act as defensive unit, and make his life much easier.

"Everyone was questioning the defence early on in the season, but it's going to happen," Terry told the London Evening Standard.

"There are so many good teams and individuals in the League, we are going to concede goals.

"The important thing going forward is we have goals in us – as long as we're not conceding too many.

"We have had a few clean sheets on the bounce, defensively we have been doing very well, not just the back four, but it's also people like Eden (Hazard), Andre (Schurrle) coming back and able to go forward as well."
