Fernando
believes Chelsea will stumble at some stage, opening the Premier League
title door to Manchester City.
The defending champions find themselves eight points off the pace just 11
games into the 2014/15 campaign.
Chelsea lead the way having made an unbeaten start, with Jose Mourinho’s men
in formidable form.
City, though, are hoping that they have already endured their wobble for the
season and that their rivals have testing runs to come.
Summer signing Fernando is confident that will prove to be the case and has
warned Chelsea that Manuel Pellegrini’s side will be ready to pounce on any
slip-ups.
He said: "We know that the English league is very competitive, with big
teams.
"Of course Chelsea is the team that is best placed and playing better, but
we know that all teams within the league fluctuate greatly.
"We did not start well, we had some difficulties, but we know that at any
time Chelsea will also go through these difficulties and then we have to
work to stay as close as possible.
"Of course the rivalry is big, Chelsea will try to keep away and we just
have to work.
"What has hampered the most is not the Premier League, the Champions League
is where we are wrong.
"We still have chances in all competitions and so we have to work to go
around."
