Chelsea
fans came out in force on Monday to salute their heroes which ended
Manchester’s four-year hold on the Premier League crown.
The west London streets were full of happy Chelsea supporters cheering their
club's star names, who enjoyed the festival atmosphere from their open top
bus.
The Blues lost just three of their 38 league matches during 2014/15 and
clinched the title with three games remaining.
Jose Mourinho’s side topped the table for most of the season after opening
their campaign with four straight wins and 15 goals.
Although the frequency of strike slowed down as the months progressed, they
never looked like surrendering control over the final few weeks of the
campaign and ended up eight points clear of runners-up Manchester City –
last season’s champions.
Fans lined the famous Kings Road, and other streets, after the celebration
bus carrying players and officials left Stamford Bridge around 11.30am.
In what was a truly momentous season for the Blues, the team also lifted the
Capital One Cup at Wembley, while Eden Hazard collected both PFA and
Football Writers’ Association player of the year awards.
This year’s Premier League title was their first since 2010 and third under
manager Mourinho who was also in charge back in 2005 and 2006.
But the Portuguese boss accepts the club must not rest on their laurels and
looking ahead to the next campaign said: "We have to be better if we want to
be successful again.
"The other opponents are not going to accept this without a fight. Next year
will be more difficult.
“But because it's difficult, this is one of the reasons why I came back to
England. I will enjoy it again."
