Sports understands Sheffield Wednesday are set to sign former Chelsea
defender Sam Hutchinson, with the player having a medical at Hillsborough.
Versatile star Hutchinson, who can play in defence or midfield, is available
on a free transfer after leaving Chelsea earlier this summer.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Wednesday last season and
Owls boss Stuart Gray had made Hutchinson one of his top targets this
summer.
A number of Premier League and Championship sides are thought to have
sounded out Hutchinson about a move, but the player is happy to return to
Hillsborough.
Hutchinson, who came through the ranks at Chelsea, is set to become
Wednesday's second new signing in the last two days following the arrival of
former Sunderland goalkeeper Keiren Westwood on a free transfer.
