Ivanovic believes that Chelsea’s summer signings will make them a stronger
side as they aim for silverware in the new season.
The Blues have already invested heavily in their squad this summer with
Diego Costa and Filipe Luis joining from Atletico Madrid, Cesc Fabregas
making the switch from Barcelona and Didier Drogba returning to the club on
a one-year deal.
Costa, who cost Chelsea a fee reported to be in the region of £32million,
was on the scoresheet in their 2-1 pre-season friendly win over Slovenian
side Olimpija Ljubljana, with Fabregas providing the assist.
Jose Mourinho was unable to lead Chelsea to silverware during his first
campaign back at Stamford Bridge, but Ivanovic hopes they will now be better
placed to do so as a result of their new additions.
"I think we will be much more creative in attack with the new players that
we got in the summer," he told Slovenian sports website Nogomania.
"Now we have a lot of players that are really strong in attacking moves, so
I believe that we will be really strong. And I also hope that we will be
strong enough to win some trophies.
"But it will not be easy, it never is. We have a quality team - that is for
sure. We already had it last season when we fought until the end for the
title.
"And don’t forget, we were also in the Champions League semi-final. But as I
said, I believe that we are even stronger now with these new players, so I
hope the new season will be even better for us.
"But we will have to be stronger until the end and you also need a lot of
luck."
