Sigurdsson believes Chelsea will lift the Premier League trophy this season.
The Icelandic midfielder said that the Blues "are the ones to catch" after
witnessing their power at first hand as Swansea were torn apart at the
Liberty Stadium where the table toppers won 5-0.
Oscar and Diego Costa scored two apiece in a first-half demolition job, the
Swans restricting Jose Mourinho's men to a solitary Andre Schurrle goal
after the break.
Sigurdsson told Sky Sports News HQ : “They are very strong. Individually
they are very good and as a team they don’t make too many mistakes and their
defence is very good.
“They’ve got a good goalie as well so I think they are the team that will
probably win the league. They are the ones to try and catch.”
And his Swans' team-mate Dwight Tiendalli was also impressed by the visitors
from Stamford Bridge.
The Dutch defender said: “Chelsea are a very good side. We knew that before
and I think they are going to win the league.
“It was very painful of course to lose 5-0 at home. We knew we were playing
a good side and we conceded the first goal quite early in the game.
“I think after that the team were a little bit down and we conceded a lot of
goals in a short space of time which is unacceptable. Today was an off day.
“We lost too many easy balls, especially in the first half and that cost us
the game. If you don’t keep the ball you know Chelsea are going to break
quickly and they did that well today.”
