Jose: Wenger Has Dream Job  (Sky Sports)

Arsene Wenger is the envy of managers all over the world because of his "dream job" at Arsenal, reckons Jose Mourinho.

Wenger has been at the Arsenal helm since 1996, winning three Premier League titles, five FA Cups and overseeing a move from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium.

The Frenchman presided over a nine-year trophy drought - finally ended by last season’s FA Cup win - but despite pressure from the fans, the Arsenal board have stayed loyal to Wenger.

Mourinho, who has had several tussles with Wenger in the past, believes his rival deserves the stability he enjoys - but warned him his talented squad must deliver silverware again soon.

"He has a dream job that we'd all love to have,” Mourinho, speaking on Goals on Sunday, said.

“I think every manager in the world would like the stability by being here year after year after year, to buy to sell and rebuild and wait and wait for success.

“What he did winning so many titles in a certain period gave him that credibility that he deserves.

“He’s a fantastic manager but I think he has a fantastic situation to be successful. When I look at the players and the squad I really think they have to win.”

Mourinho also backed Louis van Gaal to turn things around at Manchester United despite the Dutchman’s difficult start to life at Old Trafford.

The former Real Madrid boss, who worked with van Gaal at Barcelona, likened his former mentor to a player who needs time to adapt to life in the Premier League.

He said: “"He is a fantastic coach and it's easy for me to say as I know him so well and he is a fantastic person. But he has been in so many years of his career before he came to England. In the same way a player needs time to adapt to understand things to perform at the highest level it is the same for Louis.

“I think Louis will have time to make Man United a team with titles again.

“This season they still have a chance to do it with the FA Cup and they have everything open to still finish in the top four and go back to the Champions League, which is the minimum a giant like Man United needs and wants.”
