Luiz Predicts Close Contest  (Sky Sports)

Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz is predicting a tight affair when they take on his former club Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Luiz made the move from Stamford Bridge to the Parc de Princes for £50m last summer and he believes the Blues have invested the money well.

The fee received for Luiz helped Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho bring Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis to the club and Brazil international Luiz believes their squad is stronger because of the additions.

"They have two or three players more joining with amazing quality, like Fabregas and Diego. They are stronger this year,” he said.

"In the game, there won't be a gap. You have two amazing teams, good players and two amazing coaches. We need to prove how far we have come on the pitch."

The sides met in the quarter-finals of the competition last season, with Chelsea advancing on the away goals rule after the tie finished 3-3 on aggregate.

Luiz scored an own goal in Chelsea's 3-1 first-leg defeat in Paris before they won the second leg 2-0.

"Last year I scored my first goal for PSG," he added. “If I score against Chelsea I don't celebrate for respect, but I will be happy. I want to qualify, like I qualified last year, but I want to qualify for PSG."

PSG manager Laurent Blanc is also expecting an edgy affair and warned his players not to fall victim to Mourinho’s mind games.

"I know Jose Mourinho a bit and I know he'll raise the heat, so my players need to remain cool headed, not react, and keep calm,” he said.

Blanc believes not conceding at home could be key to their chances of advancing to the last eight for the third season in a row after a goal away from home proved crucial to Chelsea last season.

"Last year the key was Chelsea could score the away goal and we couldn't at Stamford Bridge,” he added. “The priority is a clean sheet at home, good defending."
