Mourinho has revealed that veteran Chelsea striker Didier Drogba will be
offered a role with the club when he retires from playing.
Drogba, who was voted the most popular player ever by Chelsea fans in 2012,
scored in Wednesday’s emphatic 3-0 over Tottenham.
The 36-year-old is enjoying a successful second spell at the club since
returning from a spell with Turkish side Galatasaray.
Mourinho was keen to praise the Ivorian for the impact he has had on the
squad since returning and said there will be a role for Drogba at Chelsea
after he retires.
"It's remarkable," said Mourinho. "I was expecting exactly this. The
important thing is that he's here and he's going to finish his career with
Chelsea.
"It looks, for me, that he's going to stay doing other things when he
finishes his career.
"It will be his decision when he decides when to stop as a player. It will
be something personal."
Drogba's most famous Chelsea moment came when he grabbed a dramatic late
equaliser against Bayern Munich in the 2012 Champions League final before
scoring the winning penalty after extra-time.
Drogba scored 157 goals in 341 games during his first spell with Chelsea
between 2004 and 2012 as the club won 10 trophies and he has added a further
five goals this season.
Meanwhile, Mourinho expects Gary Cahill to be fine after the defender was
withdrawn at half-time after a clash of heads in the first half against
Tottenham.
